Michael Weinshel has been a practicing CPA for
over 30 years. During that time, he has not only serviced his
clients but his profession. Mike has chaired the
Joint Trial Board
of the
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and been
a member of the Accountant's Legal Liability Committee, State
Legislation Committee and State Society Relations Executive
Committee.
In April of 2002, Michael was appointed by Governor Rowland to the
State Board of Accountancy.
As a past president of the
Connecticut Society
of Certified Public Accountants, Michael has held a seat on the AICPA
Council. Prior to becoming President of the CSCPA, he chaired the
following committees: Ad Hoc
Legal Suits, Ad Hoc Taskforce on CSCPA Legislative Efforts, Ad Hoc Watchdog, Annual Meeting, Awards Ball, Committee on Committee Operations, Management of Accounting Practice, Membership, Meritorious Service,
Government Affairs, Relations with Secondary Schools and the
Educational Trust Fund. Besides chairing all of these committees,
there is probably no committee on which Mike has not served. For all
of his service and dedication to the profession, Michael was honored with
the prestigious Meritorious Service Award.
Not only has Michael been active in the accounting field, but he has been
active in the greater Fairfield Community including Boy Scouts,
Congregation Rodeph Sholom, Fairfield High School, United Visiting Nurse
Association and Bridgeport Hospital. As an Eagle Scout, he continued
his service throughout his adult years as scoutmaster of Troop 122 and on
the Executive Board of the Fairfield County Council. Scouting has
awarded him both the coveted Silver Beaver and Shofar Awards as well
as the District Award of Merit.
At Rodeph Sholom,
Michael has also served on the Finance, Membership, Journal, Ritual,
Budget, Adult Activities, Clergy Search Selection Teams, and Anniversary
Committees and chaired Negotiating Teams as well as Fundraising, Finance
and is currently Long Range Planning Chairman. He is a Past
President who was awarded the State of Israel Bond Award
and Life Membership to the Board of Trustees.
The United Visiting Nurse Association
is another area to which Michael has devoted his energies. He was
Chairman of the Board for close to ten years and serves as Chairman of its
President's Council. Michael was an active participant in the
partnership created between
Bridgeport Hospital
and the UVNA, becoming a member of its Board of Trustees and Board of
Associates. There, he serves on the Finance and Investment
Committees.With all of
these extra-curricular activities, Mike Weinshel still finds time to
unwind through his hobbies that include model railroading, boating,
fishing and travel.
