Michael Weinshel has been a practicing CPA for over 30 years.  During that time, he has not only serviced his clients but his profession.  Mike has chaired the Joint Trial Board of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and been a member of the Accountant's Legal Liability Committee, State Legislation Committee and State Society Relations Executive Committee.

In April of 2002, Michael was appointed by Governor Rowland to the State Board of Accountancy.

As a past president of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants, Michael has held a seat on the AICPA Council.  Prior to becoming President of the CSCPA, he chaired the following committees:
Ad Hoc Legal Suits, Ad Hoc Taskforce on CSCPA Legislative Efforts, Ad Hoc Watchdog, Annual Meeting, Awards Ball, Committee on Committee Operations, Management of Accounting Practice, Membership, Meritorious Service, Government Affairs,  Relations with Secondary Schools and the Educational Trust Fund.  Besides chairing all of these committees, there is probably no committee on which Mike has not served.  For all of his service and dedication to the profession, Michael was honored with the prestigious Meritorious Service Award.

Not only has Michael been active in the accounting field, but he has been active in the greater Fairfield Community including Boy Scouts, Congregation Rodeph Sholom, Fairfield High School, United Visiting Nurse Association and Bridgeport Hospital.  As an Eagle Scout, he continued his service throughout his adult years as scoutmaster of Troop 122 and on the Executive Board of the Fairfield County Council.  Scouting has awarded him both the coveted Silver Beaver and  Shofar Awards as well as the District Award of Merit.

At Rodeph Sholom, Michael has also served on the Finance, Membership, Journal, Ritual, Budget, Adult Activities, Clergy Search Selection Teams, and Anniversary Committees and chaired Negotiating Teams as well as Fundraising, Finance and is currently Long Range Planning Chairman.  He is a Past President who was awarded the State of Israel Bond Award and Life Membership to the Board of Trustees.

The United Visiting Nurse Association is another area to which Michael has devoted his energies.  He was Chairman of the Board for close to ten years and serves as Chairman of its President's Council.  Michael was an active participant in the partnership created between Bridgeport Hospital and the UVNA, becoming a member of its Board of Trustees and Board of Associates.  There, he serves on the Finance and Investment Committees.

With all of these extra-curricular activities, Mike Weinshel still finds time to unwind through his hobbies that include model railroading, boating, fishing and travel.
